Templestowe resident Mal McDonagh called for police to release more details about the source of the scam

I don’t know about others, but sometimes it is frustrating that more information is not released on scams and when and where skimming devices are located.

The problem may be if the police release too much information then others can copy the crime. It may also be that for some businesses it may damage their trade and it isn’t their fault. They’re a victim as well. However without knowledge we can’t protect ourselves so too many people needlessly get scammed and have to go through the trauma. Personally I’d like more information because the police can’t be everywhere and are usually only involved after the event.
