The preferred Australian English spelling dictionary now available for Apple's MacBook Air and Mac computers using OS X.

If you're not happy with the spelling suggestions made by Apple's built-in Australian dictionary you're not alone. Most people don't like American spelling suggestions (which are secondary spelling variations in Australia).

Previous dictionary products I've supplied for Mac users have only worked with Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, but not Outlook. Outlook use Apple's built-in dictionary and not Microsoft's dictionary. Now Outlook users on the Mac can have the preferred Australian spelling.

You can find the preferred Australian English spelling dictionary for Mac OS X at http://www.australian-dictionary.com.au/mac/

How long is the traffic delay in Fitzsimons Lane Templestowe/Eltham?

Today I was at Greensborough and was debating as to whether or not I should go back via Heidelberg to avoid the traffic delay in Fitzsimons Lane or just grin and bear it. I thought this was a good opportunity to time the delay so I could factor that into future decisions about whether or not to shop north of the Yarra.

I joined the end of the queue in Fitzsimons Lane in Eltham. Slight down the hill after the curve for those who know the area. At this point there were two fairly equal lanes of traffic merging into one further down the road.

The time to get through this section of road to the roundabout was a little over 10 minutes. If traffic was stopped for some reason or banked up further back into Eltham, then the delay could easily be longer.

However at least now I know it wouldn't have been quicker to go back via Heidelberg and to simply sit and enjoy the slow moving traffic.

Liberal Party promised traffic lights at Fitzsimons Lane

At the last election the Victorian Liberal Party member promised traffic lights in Templestowe and Bulleen. Bulleen lights have been delivered and technically, it could be said they will have delivered lights in Templestowe as well.

I say technically because the lights won't be the lights most people expected.

Whilst we have to wait and see the result, the upgrades at the Templestowe roundabout are mostly for buses. In fact I've been told there will be a light to give priority to the bus travelling west to east. That could mean an even longer delay for other traffic.

Only time will tell if the traffic management lights help the traffic flow for everyone, or just the public transport system owned and run by the government, heavily subsidised by the rest of the road users, and used by only 15% of the population.

If all users of the road system were treated equally everyone would benefit. The government's approach benefits only their services at the expense of everyone else. We see the longer queues in Manningham Road caused by introduction of the bus lanes. Hopefully the same doesn't occur at the Templestowe roundabout.

Fitzsimons Lane roadworks traffic delay

Just drove from Templestowe through Eltham via Fitzsimons Lane. Traffic going from Eltham to Templestowe was banked up almost to the Main Road roundabout in Eltham.
