I often wonder if there is any point in Local Traffic Only Signs. These signs have been in place for years, yet every day hundreds of non local traffic users use the road and blocks the road for local users, causing considerable delay.
In addition council then puts in very expensive speed humps, which as can be seen, may even encourage unwanted driving behaviour.

I'm not a fan of road users being used as a revenue source, but unfortunately when cars taking shortcuts block traffic, and council simply spends rate payers' money on costly roadworks that don't work, maybe it is time for a rethink.
If Local Traffic Only signs were enforced with the first occurrence being a warning, I'm sure many people would modify their driving behaviour.
